The timeless art of portraiture dates back to the period of the Roman empire. Portraiture flourished in Roman sculptures, where sitters demanded realistic portraits, even unflattering ones. During the 4th century, the portrait began to reflect an idealized symbol of what that person looked like.
My intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of each individual person. A portrait should have a person looking directly at you in order to successfully engage the subject with the viewer.
Watercolor paint allows a portrait to be soft and alluring while still capturing details. Backgrounds can be a vivid, contrasting color, or simply removed or toned down to create a more dramatic effect that will draw more attention to the subject.
Paintings are referenced from one or more photographs. Four sizes are available: 11 x 14, 16 x 20, 18 x 24 or 20 x 28 inches. The painting will be matted to fit into these standard size frames. For example, a painted image size for 18 x 24 inches, would be 14 x 20 inches.
I would like to learn as much as I can about whom I am painting. Additional
photographs as reference
should be submitted to assist in better capturing angles, details and essence.

What size painting would you like?
How many people or pets will be in the painting?
Would you like the background detailed, vignetted (as seen left) or left completely white?
